Who We Are


Emergency Transition & Advocacy Services (ETAS) is a Pittsburgh-based crisis-response advocacy program supporting women and caregivers experiencing domestic abuse or imminent safety concerns.

ETAS primarily serves the Pittsburgh region while also assisting individuals outside the area through remote intake, safety planning, and coordinated referrals.

Our work is survivor-centered and focused on immediate safety — not paperwork.

Rapid-Response Intake (Text-Based)

Immediate, confidential support through text for women and caregivers facing urgent safety concerns. Intake is brief, low-barrier, and focused on immediate needs — no paperwork required.

Safety Planning (24–72 Hours)

Personalized safety planning to help reduce immediate risk and identify a safe place for the next one to three days. Planning focuses on timing, transportation, children, phone safety, and backup options.

Crisis Stabilization Support

Short-term support to help stabilize the moment, reduce panic, and create clarity during a crisis. This service is focused on de-escalation and immediate safety, not long-term counseling.

Advocacy & Decision Support

Clear, pressure-free guidance to help individuals understand their options and make informed decisions. Advocacy centers the individual’s choices and priorities at every step.

Coordinated Referrals

Intentional referrals to trusted community partners, including local and out-of-area resources. ETAS helps ensure individuals know what to expect and where to turn next.

Resource Navigation

Support navigating shelters, legal aid, medical services, and emergency resources. ETAS assists with identifying appropriate services and next steps based on immediate needs.
